Skip Thomas of Cedar Supply and Vinyl Patio Kits has been one of Red Rocket Media Group’s most consistent clients. Not only has he been with us for over four years, but he also happens to be one of Red Rocket’s most successful clients.

 

Initially, Red Rocket was contracted to build out the Cedar Supply website in 2003. Cedar Supply has been in business since 1979, selling lumber, vinyl and wrought-iron fencing supplies to the Northern Colorado region. Cedar Supply, itself, has been a successful business, but there was one particular product Thomas and the Red Rocket team considered to be an untapped source of income.

 

That product was the vinyl patio kits Cedar Supply also sold. We suggested building a separate site for the kits, and the idea proved to be golden: VinylPatioKits.com now accounts more than 15% of Cedar Supply’s profits.

 

VinylPatioKits.com followed the principles of sound website design, including an easy-to-follow navigation and informative content on each page, allowing users to get all of the information they needed about the kits. Additionally, Red Rocket went through great pains to optimize the site for search engines, putting VPK.com at the top of organic search results for prime keywords.

 

Not only was the site optimized for the popular search engines, but Red Rocket also implemented a pay-per-click advertising campaign that gave VPK prominence in any of the search results.

 

People that search online usually don’t have the time or interest to browse through several pages of search results.
